Fall Fashion Do or Don’t: Statement Tights

One thing I’ve learned since falling in love with fall fashion over the years (see my little pun there?) is just how unique it can be. Me? I’m a huge fan of the oversize sweaters (ahh, another pun!) and anything plaid, but apparently statement tights are a thing. Not only are they fall’s most practical trend, according to Fashionista, but there are a bunch of funky and cool ways to personalize them this year! Need a bit more convincing? Here are six of my favorite tight trends…

Dot tights, $6.99

Floral tights, $3.49

Neighborhood tights, $28.96

Gold polka dot tights, $35

Bird tights, $28.96

Heart tights, $14.50

Well, friends, would you be game to get a leg up on the trend (pun #3…!)? Is it a Do or a Don’t? What is your favorite statement style and what other fall fashion advice do you have for readers? Hope you’re having a great Monday! xoxo

Tell me about your shop. What’s the inspiration behind its launch?
Chaotic & Collected Stationery is an online shop featuring cute ‘lil paper goods — cards, drink stirrers, confetti, garland, party kits, creative gift bags and goody & favor bags. Every item in the shop is specially created and handmade by me. I’ve always been a crafty gal and after planning (and DIYing!) my wedding, I decided I wanted to start making and selling my creations. My first plan was to do wedding items, but the more I started to plan, the more I found myself thinking of so many fun stationery-type items. And so one day, while standing on a NYC subway platform with my husband, I decided to run with the stationery idea.

When did you become interested in stationery and design?
I’ve always been crafty and creative, but after doing so many things for my wedding (programs, invitation enclosures, drink stirrers, table cards, etc.), I really started to get into creating those types of items. And as I created more things, more ideas started to come to my mind.

What are you top 3 tips for design?
*Create/design things that really speak to you. My best items are those that I really enjoy making.
*Research and read articles. There are always new things popping up.
*Give yourself time to free create.

What ingredients make for the perfect party in your opinion?
Good food, awesome people and fun party decor.

What is your favorite piece in your shop and why?
My favorite piece — that’s really hard to answer. I think if I had to pick today, I would choose my fall colored leaves party kit. I love fall, and I think the kit represents everything I love about fall.

Family Photos: The Magic of Fall In the Midwest

The Midwest never ceases to impress me with its beauty. I could be biased, sure, but each new season brings with it a sense of magic that makes you feel and see things in a different way. It’s as if the world wakes up again.

And fall in the Midwest? Well, that’s an especially magical time. The smells (burning leaves!) and sights (pumpkins!) remind me so much of my childhood, and every year, I can’t help but revel in the awesome photos my mom snaps. She’s got a way of capturing fall perfectly through the lens of her smartphone, a skill I have yet to master.

This year, she even upped her game with these photos of calming fall clouds.

And this sunset!!! Ahhh, I can feel the peacefulness radiating from the photo!

What’s fall like in your neck of the woods, friends? Have you done many fall activities yet? What’s your favorite part of the season? xoxo

P.S. More fall photos and our trip to the apple orchard a few years ago! 🙂
