Fashion Do or Don’t: Zodiac Tees

Zodiac Tees Zodiac TeesAwhile back, I posted about that classic ’70s vibe in fashion, which is something I’ve come to love and appreciate. Remember how cool and relaxed the look was? So when I saw these zodiac tees over the weekend, I couldn’t help but think: My Leo heart would LOVE THAT for summer!!!

They remind me of a warm, chilled-out summer day where you laze in the grass on a sunny afternoon. You know, sort of like this classic oldie…

What’s the verdict, friends? Is this a fashion do or don’t for you? Do you have a favorite decade when it comes to your style? I’m also pretty partial to the ’50s look… xoxo

Do or Don’t: Mermaid Toast for Breakfast

Mermaid Toast for Breakfast Mermaid Toast for BreakfastWhat do you typically eat for breakfast? I love a good omelette every once and awhile, but usually, I’ll just grab a yogurt or a bowl of cereal. Nothing fancy, right? But what about this…mermaid toast for breakfast?

It’s one of the newest Instagram trends, thanks to food stylist Adeline Waugh, whose recipe calls for blue-green algae powders and almond milk cream cheese — hence, the dreamy ocean-like hue! And for the haters? Well, Waugh has one clear message, which I find VERY refreshing…

“I am just having fun! I am a food stylist, and I like to create beautiful things using food—I’ve never claimed to be starting a trend or a putting out a new recipe that is super practical—it’s 100% impractical; I just like to play around in the kitchen and attempt to create something aesthetically pleasing and unique from time to time. Also, I don’t know about you, but with everything going on in the world today, sometimes I just want to look at some colorful food.”

Amen!!! Is that a breath of fresh air, friends? So, would you go for mermaid toast? What’s your all-time favorite breakfast food these days? I’d love to chat all about it in the comments! xoxo

Do or Don’t: Heartbeat Ring For Bae…

Picture this: It’s been a LONG day and you’re so exhausted that you can’t even see straight. You’re worn out and all you really want to do is talk to your significant other. The only problem? They’re thousands of miles away. But wait!!! You’ve got the next best thing to hearing their voice…

Their actual heartbeat, of course!!
Say hello to Touch rings, the newest high-tech gadget to keep your love alive, long distance, be damned! Created by The Touch, these little rings can be synced via your phone; one tap and you can immediately feel another person’s pulse in real time.
Whhhaaattt?? Did someone just say real time? Yup, it’s as simple as that. A connection is only a tap away!
I don’t quite know what to make of these. I mean, it’s kind of a sweet idea…but it’s equally kind of creepy, you know? Being able to feel someone’s heartbeat on your finger in real time? It sounds like some sort of futuristic alien technology — or, at the very least, a New Age-y form of Fatal Attraction just waiting to happen. I’m not sure I’d even want to find out; to be that connected to someone? That’s just sort of scary, if you ask me! Some things should just be private — and one’s heartbeat should probably be one of those things. Oh, and not to mention the hefty price tag. For almost $300, I could get medical imaging of my heart or record my heartbeat on a CD.
What’s your verdict, friends? Is this a do or a BIG don’t? Could you ever see yourself getting one?? I’m not the only one who thinks this is uber creepy, right? Or maybe I’m just getting cynical in my old age…?? xoxo

Wedding Do or Don’t: At-Home Engagement Photos

I’ve come across some amazing engagement photos over the years, like an underwater engagement, travel-themed shoots, library love, a zombie engagement and a romantic Iceland escape, but what about taking the simple route and celebrating your engagement in the place where you perhaps feel the most comfortable?

Your home.

It sounds like such a novel, out-of-the-box idea, doesn’t it? Well, newly engaged couple Melinda Kunze and Josh Blitchington opted for just that with their recent engagement shoot in their North Carolina abode. The result is a collection of photos that truly reflect the love between the couple, set amidst the backdrop of their everyday life. It’s dreamy and romantic and everything that gives me all the feels. And to make the photos feel as authentic as possible, they left the house as-is, leaving items on the counter and stuff on the fridge.

“We are in love with [this house]. It’s adorable and perfect for us,” says Kunze. “We would love to look back in 10 years after we have moved to a different house and have memories of our first home together.”

Plus, their pups shared some of the shots, which just ups the adorableness factor. In a world where some couples’ engagement photos are overly extravagant productions that rival red carpets at movie premieres, it’s nice to see something that feels so intimate and, well, homey. Two people just being themselves is so utterly refreshing!

Would you be game for taking at-home engagement photos, friends? Is this a wedding do or don’t for you? Did you take engagement photos? Care to share one in the comments? xoxo

P.S. Do you know your parents’ engagement story?

This Vintage House Will Blow Your Mind

I’ve been to Graceland twice and each time, I’ve fallen in love with EVERYTHING about Elvis’ humble abode. The selling point for me was that the house has remained virtually unchanged since the ’70s — and it shows! The rooms and the decor are rife with vintage patterns and motifs, and, honestly, I always found something sort of comforting about that. It was a time capsule from a bygone era that you could escape to.

Well, if you’re like me, then get ready to have your mind blown! A house in Palm Springs has stood the test of time and remained virtually the same since…

Get ready…

…are you sure you’re ready?…

1969.

Yup, that’s right! The three-bedroom house is 3,350 square feet of culture and history, from the pink carpet to the floral couch to the wood-paneled den to the vibrant-colored drapes to the…bathtub in the middle of the bathroom? Hey, I guess whatever floats your ’70s-loving boat — pun intended.

How awesome is that, friends? Are you a fan? Can you see yourself living in a house like this? Or do you prefer a more modern decor? xoxo
