Happy New Year’s Eve, friends! It seems like it was just yesterday that we were ringing in 2014. What an amazing year it’s been, in ways both big and small. I’ve grown so much, and it’s been one of the happiest years since my father died. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey over the last year — it wouldn’t have been nearly as fun without you. I’ve loved all your sweet comments and emails, which made me smile every single day. I’m looking forward to lots of fun posts in 2015 as well as some new series.
We’ll be back to regular posting on January 5th, but in the meantime, I thought it would be neat to take a look back at some of my favorite So About What I Said posts from 2014…
I wrote more Letters To My Future Husband (we’re up to Letter #171…), on such topics as vulnerability and taking chances when it comes to love.
We hung out in the Love Lounge and talked about things like Facebook, The Great Date Debate, first loves, values and marriage and the curse of unrequited love.
I gave all those silly boys some much-needed lessons in MEMOS TO MEN, like questions I’m too scared to ask, three things you should never post on Facebook, the sexiness of men who use semicolons (yes, it’s TRUE!) and traits of a real man.
Disability-related posts, such as Diesel’s awesome ad campaign, my disability Q&A, New York Fashion Week coverage and the 20th anniversary of my brain surgery.
I rounded up some of my favorite Etsy finds, from pop culture pencils to summer tea towels to U.S. cloth napkins to hand-painted plates to map totes to rose gold rings.
We continued to explore my ever-growing love of fashion, including glow-in-the-dark tees, anchor bracelets, the do or don’t denim shorts debate, bangs love and fall fashion trends.
A heavy dose of beauty posts, such as the prettiest pink lip balm, getting my glam on, starry nails, body-positive ads and 100 years of iconic beauty looks.
Design love, like my snazzy business cards, floral phone cases, fun cutting boards, witty coffee mug, creative holiday cards and ocean-inspired necklaces.
Dream Home inspiration, like de-cluttering tips, how to display DIY projects, transparent house, tips for decorating your space and cabin love.
Dream Vacations that had us daydreaming of places like the swing at the end of the world, the Grand Canyon, Lego Bridge and glow-in-the-dark bike path. Plus, five essentials for the perfect road trip and five essentials for the perfect staycation.
Yummy food, such as red velvet Oreo truffle brownies, rice Krispie bars with a twist, fun facts about donuts, peanut butter and jelly bars and pumpkin spice chocolates.
We had lots of serious chitchats about pop culture, like fighting Internet cliches, the four movie soundtracks that define my life, if your life were a movie, my love of a little book titled The Fault In Our Stars, summer movies and the 2014 Holiday Gift Guide.
In The Pursuit of Happiness inspiration: Mister Rogers on love, Oprah on turning 60, Shailene Woodley on falling in love, Diane Keaton on marriage and Dolly Parton on family.
I captured some classic Family Photos, like Snowmageddon 2014, Harry modeling for the camera, the thrill of four-day weekends, signs of summer and my 33rd birthday shenanigans and fall TV.
The honesty badge came out in Open Letters, such as letters to my mom, my body, my sister and college freshmen.
I delved deeper into my father’s suicide, with such topics as the three things I’d tell him and five things I’ve learned about suicide.
Weddings, including fingerprint rings, fall wedding trends, the new age of wedding photos and this gorgeous waterfall elopement.
AND last but not least, we celebrated three new series: Ms. Bear’s Kitchen, Wise Words From Readers and the Honest Selfie Challenge (which I’m thinking of doing again this year, so let me know if you’d like to participate!).
Wowzers! I can’t wait to get blogging in the coming year. Feel free to peruse the archives if you need a blog fix, and I hope you have a wonderful New Year, friends! See you on January 5th! xoxo
And as always, feel free to connect with me on Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and now YouTube! See you there, friends! xoxo
P.S. Speaking of the New Year, there’s still time to send me your Dream For 2015 guest post! Looking forward to hearing from you! 🙂
