Family Photos: The thrill of four-day weekends

I’ll be the first to admit that I have yet to master the art of “having a weekend” as a blogger and writer. With my trusty laptop always within arm’s reach, it’s all too easy to open it on a Saturday afternoon to, as I always say, “just get a little work done.” Well, more often than not, that “little” work turns into a few hours, and before I know it, everyone else has gone to bed, the house is quiet and I’m sitting alone in the kitchen nursing a glass of Diet Cherry 7UP — and still working.

So, it was quite a nice change of pace this weekend when my mom had a four-day weekend (thank you, Teacher Institute Day and Presidents’ Day!), and I was able to actually relax. Maybe I did learn something from my Internet-Free Thanksgiving? Either way, I enjoyed my classic brand of fun, adventure and merriment this weekend. Here’s a little peek…

Started off the weekend fashion-forward in my mom’s comfy Cat Lady sweatshirt…loud and proud!

We played lots of games, many of which I lost, but like I always say, “it was a social occasion.”

This was the scene on Valentine’s Day…frosted animal cookies from my childhood and catching up with the latest celebrity news.

See, mom, you can be Martha Stewart when you want to be!

Who says Valentine’s Day has to end on February 14th?

Writing thank-you notes and having a little too much fun with the stickers.

Ahhhh, Sunday lunches are the best!

Have you snapped any cool Instagrams lately, friends? Be sure to follow me for all the fun — and yes, lots and lots of cat photos! xoxo

P.S. As I was typing this post, it just occurred to me that I’m writing this post on Sunday night. Why, you ask? So I can be ahead and take Monday off, naturally… 🙂

Honest Selfie #4: Georgie’s story

This picture is me at our favorite antique store when I was shopping after-Christmas sales! I can not wear makeup due to severe skin allergies, so I’m used to being makeup free. What I love about myself? My LOVE of family. My family is my heart. I’m old-fashioned, so I think I’m a bit of a homebody too.

Now this picture was in the snow last week. We don’t get much snow in the South, but last week was crazy — no makeup, of course.

Honest Selfie #3: Ivy’s story

My name is Ivy. I love taking photos of myself and the result of my makeup! I honestly say I like being artistic when I mix cool shades of eye shadow, eyeliners and lipstick and am creative with it. But I don’t base beauty through that. At the end of the day, I have to remove it and see that “it’s me!” with or without makeup. We are all beautiful and wonderfully made.
