Funny Illustrations on Aging

These illustrations on age by artist Samantha Jayne are spot-on, aren’t they? They may be geared toward that classic Quarter-Life Crisis, but there’s something so universal and relatable about them — something that transcends age…

Thumbs up! We’re all in this Life Stuff together, right? xoxo

P.S. A new Love Lounge is coming up shortly! 🙂

Found: The Perfect Disability Greeting Cards

Speaking of dating and disabilities, how awesome are these greeting cards? They were released last Valentine’s Day as part of the End The Awkward, the same amazing campaign that is working hard to squash misconceptions and break down barriers…

Although the cards take a light-hearted look at the intersections of love and dating for people with disabilities, they raise important issues — issues that many people, from both sides of the fence, might be uncomfortable talking about or even bringing up. I was just talking about this with my mom and sister last night. Sometimes, it seems like disabilities can make people so uncomfortable, so one of two things usually happens: They say the wrong thing, or they say nothing at all. I honestly don’t know which one is worse, and maybe neither is necessarily bad or ignorant or even insensitive.

Like so many other things in life, it all boils down to education and working to further break down those walls that society has put up over the years. As I see it, that’s really the only way things are ever going to change. And I know they can change.

It’s nice to see cards like these leading the way! Don’t you agree, friends? xoxo

Three Fun Things For Halloween

With the year’s spookiest holiday just two short days away, I suppose it’s only appropriate that the weather matches that same vibe/feel. But have no fear! The Internet has been nailing it this week with a bunch of fun Halloween-themed posts. Here, three great home, decor and food finds, starting with Remodelista’s round-up of darkly moody houses — they sort of remind me of that one scary house on the block that you were always afraid to stop at for candy…

Yahoo! surveyed readers to answer that all-important question once and for all: What is your favorite Halloween candy? I’m not at all peanut butter cups come out on top — they’re my favorite too! You? Sadly, it looks like licorice didn’t get much love…

…and this gorgeous trick or treat crescent moon silver moon decor ($57 from Etsy shop SlippinSouthern)

Now if you’ll excuse me, a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup is a-calling my name (and yes, I did just use the word ‘a-calling’)! Are you all set for Halloween, friends? Got your costume picked out? I’d love to hear! xoxo

She’s the creative force behind Chaotic & Collected Stationery, a shop full of cards, party decor and party kits. After planning her wedding, Downey found herself inspired to up her design game. Tell me about your shop. What’s the inspiration behind its launch?
Chaotic & Collected Stationery is an online shop featuring cute ‘lil paper goods — cards, drink stirrers, confetti, garland, party kits, creative gift bags and goody & favor bags. Every item in the shop is specially created and handmade by me. I’ve always been a crafty gal and after planning (and DIYing!) my wedding, I decided I wanted to start making and selling my creations. My first plan was to do wedding items, but the more I started to plan, the more I found myself thinking of so many fun stationery-type items. And so one day, while standing on a NYC subway platform with my husband, I decided to run with the stationery idea.

When did you become interested in stationery and design?
I’ve always been crafty and creative, but after doing so many things for my wedding (programs, invitation enclosures, drink stirrers, table cards, etc.), I really started to get into creating those types of items. And as I created more things, more ideas started to come to my mind.

What are you top 3 tips for design?
*Create/design things that really speak to you. My best items are those that I really enjoy making.
*Research and read articles. There are always new things popping up.
*Give yourself time to free create.

What ingredients make for the perfect party in your opinion?
Good food, awesome people and fun party decor.

What is your favorite piece in your shop and why?
My favorite piece — that’s really hard to answer. I think if I had to pick today, I would choose my fall colored leaves party kit. I love fall, and I think the kit represents everything I love about fall.
