Flowerwork

German-based artist Sarah Illenberger can really make flowers pop — literally! Her recent series, appropriately titled Flowerwork, features flowers styled like fireworks. They remind me of two of my favorite things — springtime and the Fourth of July! Aren’t they gorgeous, friends? xoxo

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Because nothing says Happy St. Patrick’s Day like a little almost-spring craftiness. Two of my favorites this year: The DIY shamrock floral crown, above, which would be a cute accessory for a garden party (random fact about me: I’ve always wanted to go to a chic garden party). And…

This DIY gold leaf manicure, because, honestly, gold makes everything better, doesn’t it? Happy day, friends! How are you celebrating? xoxo

P.S. Looks like Chicago isn’t the only city to celebrate the day by dyeing rivers or fountains green!

Sponsor Spotlight: Grandma’s Garden

You’ve probably guessed it already, but I’ve got a one-track mind these days. Spring. Spring. Spring. Oh, and did I mention spring? The season’s been on my mind, so I was so happy to discover another person who is pretty enthusiastic about the season too. Meet Svetlana, the genius behind Grandma’s Garden! The Russia-based jewelry shop features gorgeous necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, brooches and hair accessories all inspired by one of spring’s most glorious staples: Flowers! If looking around her shop doesn’t get you excited for spring, I don’t know what will. Read on for Svetlana’s tips for wearing jewelry and her take on upcoming spring fashion trends! xoxo

Tell me about your shop. What’s the inspiration behind its launch?
Well, It’s just my way of expressing myself. I just want to show what I have inside my soul. I’m interested in diverse practices. I love experiments and trying anything news. But in this case, you always need to look for a good combination. Is not possible to use all at the same time. This shop is my attempt to find the possible combinations of design, techniques and style. I want to select the best and “write a story” about it. If we’re talking about this shop, this is the story about Grandma’s Garden. I just want to take a story and place it in the shop. I am happy to share my jewelry story with other people. And I am really very pleased if it will be interesting for someone.

Your shop features so many inspiring finds. What inspires you the most?
This is such a difficult question. I could talk endlessly about it — if my English was a little better, I would do it 😉 I’m sure that inspiration is everywhere. Inside of any thing you can always find new inspiration, even if it is an old and familiar thing. I think the source of inspiration for my shop is my childhood. I always spent my summer holiday at my grandparents’ house. I was playing in the garden and forest. As all Grandmas, mine had many old things, including handmade laces, napkins, incredible bed linen embroidered by hand and lots of similar stuff. But that old stuff shine with absolutely magical energy. Now we have many things around and we often throw it away and buy anything new. But an old handmade piece always has a long, charming story. And my heart keeps these emotions till now. When you’re inspired by an idea and you start to work on it, the idea begins to grow up. It draws to itself more and more ideas as a magnet. I think this happened with my jewelry idea. As time went on, the idea was supplemented with my love of folk-rock music. The mix of traditional elements and patterns and forged rough textures occurs from it. And I’m sure this isn’t the end.

What are your top 3 tips for wearing jewelry?
I’m not a very good adviser. This is because the tip is always a rule. But every rule has exceptions. I can give only one tip and it’s the main for my mind: To be yourself. If you want to do something new, you can’t follow any tips. If you feel you love it, do it. I always use this tip for myself 🙂

What are some trends we’re seeing as we move into the spring?
In my mind, we have beautiful trends this spring. Absolutely amazing detail in statement jewelry. You need just one statement jewelry piece to create a perfectly stunning look. Statement necklaces and rings are always unique and attention-grabbing. And of course, another spring trend is minimalist rings and bracelets. But this spring, we can actually wear lots and lots of rings and bracelets on your hands. I’m really in love with this trend. And maybe the main trend in spring and summer is the first-knuckle rings. It’s one of the latest jewelry must-haves. And of course you can see all jewelry trends in my shop!

What is your favorite piece in your shop and why?
I love every piece in my shop. When I make a new piece, I think that it’s the best of all. Then I think the same when the next one has done. I want to thank everyone for reading. And many thanks to Melissa for wonderful questions!

Etsy Love: Hanging wall vases

How perfect would these hanging wall vases be for the first days of spring? Such a fresh — and fun! — way to brighten up your house. Each vase is hand-blown and can be hung from the wall, ceiling or even a tree outside. See, now this is the kind of thing that just might turn my pale thumb a nice shade of green! xoxo

Dream Home: Floral entryway

I’ve been pinning up a storm lately (read: the addiction is real…), and I keep coming back to all sorts of home inspiration, like this beautiful floral entryway by floral designer Sarah Winward. It sort of reminds me of the South and creates such an inviting space, doesn’t it? Makes me wonder what treasures await inside… xoxo
