Etsy Love: Heart Nails For Galentine’s Day

Heart NailsI’ve got a Valentine’s Day gift guide coming up, but apparently TODAY is Galentine’s Day! You all know I’m all about celebrating the wonderful friends we have in our lives, so can we take a moment to appreciate these heart nails from NorthofSalem on Etsy?

They’re cute and festive, and they would make a fun gift, don’t you think?? Janelle painted my nails bright red over the holidays, and now I’m itching to paint them again! There’s just something about reds and pinks! Or, is that just me, friends??

What do you think? Would you sport these nails? Thoughts? xoxo

Do or Don’t: Oh, Christmas Tree…Eyebrows??

Christmas Tree EyebrowsYou know I’m usually quick with an opinion on the latest beauty trends, but this newest one I just discovered has left me rather speechless. I give you…CHRISTMAS TREE EYEBROWS!!!

Wait, what?? You don’t believe me?? Well, just see for yourself!!!

Christmas Tree Eyebrows Christmas Tree EyebrowsThe holiday trend is all about transforming your eyebrows into miniature festive Christmas trees. Think the bejeweled look with generous amounts of glitter and VOILA! — you’ve got yourself a traveling tree!!

Christmas came early with this trend, thanks to Instagram user taytay_xx, whose lit eyebrows helped spark the holly jolly hashtag #ChristmasTreeEyebrows!

Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about this trend. It’s festive, sure, but does it really have a shelf life beyond New Year’s Eve? I mean, I can’t see people walking around in the heat of the summer and sporting this look — that is, unless they’re going for the Christmas in July look. In that case, it might just work!

Christmas Tree EyebrowsWhat are your thoughts, friends?? Is this a beauty do or don’t? Will you be rocking some Christmas tree eyebrows this year?? xoxo

I Might Have Found My Dream Purse

Dream PurseSo! You know how I’ve apparently inherited my mom’s purse curse affliction?? And how I’ve been on the hunt for that dream purse that will be my chicest piece of arm candy EVER??

Well, I just may have found that dream purse!! Wait, make that three purses, actually!! Check out these beauties from Loft! I dare you not to be immediately obsessed with them! I mean, they’re fresh (hello, roses!) and colorful and understated glam, which seems like the perfect combination for me!! I could just see one of them hanging out in my wheelchair basket, couldn’t you??

What do you think, friends?? Should I bite the bullet and order it? Do you like it or is it not really your style?? I’d love to hear your stylish thoughts!! xoxo

P.S. Remember these beautiful palm leaf purses?

Dear CoverGirl: Alternatives to Your New Slogan

CoverGirlDear CoverGirl:

Can we chat for a minute?? Word on the runway is that you recently gave yourself a little makeover. In the form of a brand new slogan, to be exact. You’ve been around a long time, so I understand the need to reinvent your look and try something new — though, who am I to judge, seeing as how I’ve had the same haircut since the late ’80s??

Trust me, I get it. The need to do something different can be quite strong sometimes! And, as Ukonwa Ojo, SVP CoverGirl, said in a statement…

“In leading the relaunch, we started with the insight that people no longer strive for a singular standard of beauty, but use makeup as a tool for self-expression and personal transformation. CoverGirl has always been inclusive and is known for pushing the boundaries of what it means to be beautiful, which means we have a responsibility to elevate how we connect and communicate with people. This is bigger than a new campaign or a tagline. We hope to spark a provocative dialogue that shifts cultural assumptions about when, where, how and why people wear makeup.”

Ahhh, yes, redefining what exactly it means to be beautiful and comfortable in YOUR skin. This is something I’ve always championed, especially here on So About What I Said, and am so glad to see big cosmetics brands like yourself finally getting on the train!

And, makeup as a tool for self-expression and individualism?? That’s something I’ve only just began embracing in the last few years. But, wowzers, have I made up for lost time recently! I’m in love with your Jumbo Gloss balms and the Oh Sugar! balms and have even been known to line my arm with a rainbow of color swatches. It’s like dancing through a candy-colored dream sequence, I tell you!

But, back to your new slogan. I like it, but I’ve been thinking of some other ideas. Some that pack a little more personalized punch — you know, since your brand is all about the individual. Here are 3 additional options, straight from my lipstick-loving mind…

Unapologetically You

I’m all about being yourself and not giving a damn what the rest of the world thinks. It’s that sort of confidence that is truly beautiful, don’t you think? It’s like you’re screaming to the world, “This is who I am. Take it or leave it!” *cue smile with a bright red lip*

Beauty Is What You Make Up

Make up — see what I did there with that little play on words? Nice, isn’t it? Beauty really is whatever you want it to be, and how cool is it that your makeup can reflect that? So go wild with that glitter mascara or hot pink nail polish — standing out is definitely the way to go, if you ask me!

#BeBraveBeYou

OK, so this is sort of a shameless plug for my blog — and, dare I say, my brand. I’ve been known to use the #BeBraveBeYou hashtag on Twitter, and I think it’s so true to life. Being you IS an act of bravery these days, and that is something that should be celebrated and applauded, don’t you think?? Plus, using this as the slogan would lend itself perfectly to digital marketing campaigns on social media and even other merchandise like t-shirts emblazoned with the hashtag! Oh, I can just see the potential now…

So, what do you think, CoverGirl?? I think this could be the beginning of a beautiful collaboration between us. Will you join me?? xoxo
