It’s that time of year: Hue aficionados (read: color lovers) the world over are all standing at rapt attention and full of excitement. In fact, I suspect they’ve been jazz hands-level giddy since last month, when Pantone announced their pick for their world-famous annual Color of the Year. And just like in years past, a simple, plain old color like yellow, army green or even fuchsia just wouldn’t do — I mean, this is 2018, we’re talking about here, people! So…what color claimed the top spot? Ultra Violet! I loooove how Pantone describes the hue, saying…
“Inventive and imaginative, Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come…a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade…communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.”
Well, color me intrigued — pun intended!! And, with a certain Royal Wedding coming up in May, now seems like the perfect time to get better acquainted with the beauty and magic of Ultra Violet. Think you need a bit more convincing?? Look no further than these 8 fun fashion picks…
V-neck sweater, $95 | Kitten heels, $25.50 | Amethyst bead bracelet, $20.82 | Heart-shaped healing crystal, $4.50 | Shiny purple nail polish, $9.59 | Cozy hoodie, $69 | S’well water bottle, $42 | Velvet purse, $39.99 | Sparkly gloves, $44 |
It looks like it’s going to be a purple reign all year long, friends!! What do you think of Pantone’s choice this year? Would you wear the color? Are you already and silently laughing as the rest of the world finally gets on board?? xoxo

I do love purple and shades of violet. I am an artist who enjoys painting scenes and still life and lives for the colors. Purples are one of my favorites as I just finished a scene of the endangered white leopard set against purple mountains and snow.

I find myself buying shades of purple all the time, when I’m not buying blacks, grays or other neutrals. A friend had to point it out to me because I didn’t realize it was my go-to color when I needed a pop of something bright.
