I like love TV. A lot. Probably more than I should. OK, definitely more than I should. After all, there’s this piece of evidence: I have some 135 “events” recorded and ready for my viewing pleasure. Then there’s this piece of evidence: I’ve recorded nearly 300 hours of programming.
300 HOURS.
It’s not as if I’m in desperate need of new shows, but here’s the thing: The new fall TV season is just ripe with possibilities. Honestly, I’m pretty powerless when it comes to resisting the allure and charm of a fresh batch of shows. I suppose it all started in the early days of Sesame Street, when I was easily mesmerized by Big Bird and Cookie Monster. Since then, my love affair with the small screen has only grown deeper.
This week marks the return of some of our favorite shows, and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m fangirling pretty hard, actually. I used to type out my TV schedule, but thanks to technology, I can go digital. Here are the eight shows I’m buzzing about the most…
The Big Bang Theory: Never mind last season’s cliffhanger (holy engagement ring, Sheldon!), there’s something special about watching a show from the beginning — in the fall, you feel like you’re reuniting with friends after summer vacation.
How To Get Away With Murder: I love the surprising dark turns and sinister plot twists, typically orchestrated by law professor turned criminal mastermind Annalise Keating. I have a feeling things are only going to get murkier in season two.
Jane The Virgin: The complete opposite of HTGAWM, Jane is a cheery breath of fresh air, even if some decidedly un-cheerful things are going on around her. An accidental artificial insemination! A broken engagement! Multiple murders! Whew!
Supergirl: Not since the likes of Wonder Woman have we seen a strong female superhero swoop into our TVs. It’s about time, and I can’t wait for Supergirl to show everyone who’s boss!
The Muppets: Speaking of boss, Supergirl just might have a little competition in a certain self-confident pig. Yes, Miss Piggy, Kermit and the rest of the gang is back on primetime! I loved them as a child and hope that nostalgia factor is still there. And maybe a rousing rendition or two of Rainbow Connection. Ahh, the memories!
Scream Queens: The new project from Ryan Murphy looks like the perfect blend of Glee and American Horror Story. Perfect for fall nights curled up on the couch.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: I’d heard rumblings about this show, which follows a young woman as she moves across the country to win back her high school boyfriend. I was excited. Then I heard that it was going to be a musical. Now I’m REALLY, REALLY excited.
Limitless: A man discovers that he’s able to access his brain’s full capacity just by taking a single pill. Oh, the possibilities! Think of all the blog posts I could write…!
Are your DVRs set, friends? What shows are you looking forward to? Do you have a favorite show of all time? xoxo
