Well, combine all those and you’ve got Charmed Coast Jewelry, the beautiful new Etsy shop that feels like a time capsule for all things summer. Florida-based designer Janice opened her online boutique just six months ago and describes her line as “jewelry inspired by elegance and simplicity with a coastal charm,” and her pieces are gorgeous — everything from necklaces to bracelets to earrings! Read on for Janice’s take on summer trends and her tips for shopping for jewelry! xoxo

Tell me a bit about your shop. What’s the inspiration behind its launch?
The shop name was a brainstorm between me and my other half. I claimed the store name last year, and since then, I have been creating jewelry and working to get the store in order. The premise of the store is elegance and simplicity with a coastal charm. I have lived near the coastline my entire life, and I grew up crafting with my family. After not being able to find jewelry with the quality and attributes that I was looking for and within my price range, I began to make my own. I started creating and wearing a few pieces and began to get positive feedback from friends and people I didn’t know. Now, here I am with my own store! I wanted to bring my creations to the world and see how everyone would react to it.

What are some trends we’re seeing this summer? What are some of your favorite fashion/jewelry trends?
I am seeing that the statement necklace is very popular right now and I have seen some very beautiful pieces. In my personal opinion, some of those pieces are too elaborate, so I applied my own style and approach to the statement necklace. I came up with a more simplistic version that will not outshine the person wearing it. My favorite trend is the gemstone/crystal bar necklace. I absolutely love healing crystals and raw gemstones and this style allows me to incorporate and really show off some of them.

What are some things people should keep in mind when shopping for jewelry?
When shopping for jewelry, keep in mind who you are! What are your “go to’s” as far as clothing style? Are you comfortable and confident in how the piece is expressing who you are? Will you actually incorporate it in your everyday style or formal style? Don’t just buy it because you think it’s a pretty color. Don’t waste your hard-earned money; buy smart! Buy gold-filled, sterling silver, or vermeil because they will last longer and are affordable. Also, never let your jewelry outshine your natural beauty! Wear your accessory — don’t let it wear you.

What are some ways that people can still look chic for less?
To look chic for less, buy plain chain necklaces at different lengths and different styles. Take your favorite piece and use it interchangeably with the different chains according to the occasion, what you’re wearing, according the neckline or just by how you’re feeling that day.

What is your favorite piece in your shop and why?
Currently, my favorite piece is the freshwater pearl and solitaire raw emerald gold bracelet. It’s perfect for any occasion — it’s fun, it’s elegant and it gives you that coastal charm!
