This BuzzFeed quiz told me I’m a pretty awkward person, so it must be true, right? I mean, let’s face it, I’ve had my fair share of awkwardness in my day (helllllooo, boys…), so maybe this “breaking news” shouldn’t come as such a surprise after all.
Case in point: Take last week, for example. I spent the day at my old stomping ground. Part of the building had been remodeled, and I was checking out the new digs.
“Oh, the art gallery,” I thought to myself. “Let’s go take a gander…” (and yes, I do have this sort of dialogue in my head all the time. And yes, I do use the word gander quite frequently).
So into the gallery I went. It was a pretty small space, and it was just me and the student worker. Well, fast forward a few minutes, and what do I do? Have an unfortunate run-in with a glass wall. Yes, my awkward self mistook a glass wall for the door. I slammed right into said glass wall — thank goodness that my wheelchair basket acted as a sort of buffer.
“Are you OK?” asked the student worker.
“Oh, I’m fine,” I replied nonchalantly as if the whole thing was no big deal — you know, as if getting face time with glass walls is such a regular occurrence for me. Now, when she asked if I was OK, I wasn’t sure if she was wondering about my physical state or the newly minted metaphorical bruises slapped on my ego. I didn’t know. And I surely wasn’t going to stick around to find out.
Instead, I did the only logical thing I could think of doing at the time: I zoomed out of there at a pretty high speed — making sure I used the door, of course.
But the whole experience, as embarrassing as it was, got me thinking. We’re so quick to feel awkward and feel our cheeks turn a bright, blushing red (in my case, my cheeks probably turned even redder than my blazing-red hair…) — are we jumping the gun on things? Aren’t we the ones who end up more embarrassed than the people around us? At least that’s what I’m going to tell myself in this situation.
Have you done anything awkward lately, friends? Are you an awkward person in general? How do you handle those awkward situations? Do you let them roll off your back, or do you tend to obsess over them? Let’s chat! After all, we’re all in this awkward boat together, right…?!?!? xoxo

I'm sure this was a lot more awkward for you than her. Glass walls and doors are infamous for this really.
After doing the awkward test it turns out I'm not really awkward at all. Who would've thought?! Had I taken this a few years ago I probably would have gotten a higher score though.

Oh man, you should see me at work. I say stupid things to customers, stutter, act generally stupid. I've tripped over my feet, run into tables… it's ridiculous. But I suppose if they want to tip me because they feel sorry for me then that's okay, right?

Awkward moments, sadly my memory is so bad I don't remember any, although I do know one a colleague of mine had, courtesy of my dog….. I was an RAF Police Dog handler, on this particular shift I was on mobile patrol, one of my duties was to relieve the other guys for meal breaks…anyway, long story short, my dog mistook a guy waving his arms as his intent to attack me….wooomph, in went Major, he spent a considerable length of time nibbling the guy between the legs, who was standing on tip toes in the vain attempt to get away, while at the same time squealing like a sissy boy 🙂 I was laughing so hard I had no energy to pull him off. Anyway, eventually Major became bored and let go…. result, bruised inner thighs, two swollen 'ahems', and a torn, well you can guess. Plus three weeks off work.
Ok, maybe not awkward 🙂

Awkward moments………..oh yeah! I have never grown out of them. I have a bad habit of trying to pay attention to many things at one time. I am from a big family, so I could follow a few conversations at once (one end of the table to the the next LOL) well sometimes – things "go over my head" – instead of just being the-quiet-type ……. I usually bust my cover and we all get a big laugh. Usually the laugh comes on a delayed response for me which cracks up my family even more! oh well… PS Happy Easter to yall ox

At lunch with coworkers a few weeks ago at a very noisy restaurant, a coworker friends said something about having hip problems from being a breech-birthed baby. I could have sworn she said something about being an a$$ first baby and that phrase really tickled my funny bone. Everyone looked at me completely mortified, and I tried to explain, but they didn't understand how I could have misheard that since I have perfect hearing. Oh well.
