Photos of the world from 1963

Speaking of the anniversary of the March on Washington, these photos, also taken in 1963, really capture the pulse of the nation during the early ’60s. And what a nation it was…Beatlemania and folk music was sweeping the teenage population…

The Civil Rights Movement was in full swing…

TVs were becoming commonplace (the social media of the ’60s?)…

The rise and untimely fall of Camelot…

Diane Sawyer, 17, is crowned Junior Miss 1963…

The Don Drapers of the day ride the subway to work.

I’ve always been fascinated by the 1960s, with its rich history and cultural milestones. What’s your favorite decade, friends? xoxo

The sixties is pretty iconic. The fifties are also pretty cool.

I think though, that my favourite era is the nineties. I loved the music, the fashion, the films but, most importantly, I had an absolute ball! x

What incredible images! I'm partial to the 50s and early 60s.

Such great photos…part of my would have loved to live back in the 60's, and then I think of what my life would have actually been like, what options I would have had back then as a woman, and I realize I'm pretty happy where I am. But man, the style back then was something else!

So About What I Said is a daily blog that covers relationships, disabilities, lifestyle and pop culture. I love to laugh and have been known to overshare. I also have an unabashed obsession with pop music, polo shirts, and PEZ dispensers. Read more...
