Last week, I realized that I haven’t gone behind-the-scenes with an awesome blogger in a few months. My conclusion? That’s far too. So like any 21st-Century woman, I put out a call on Facebook and Twitter, and you answered, friends! First up: Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird. I first fell in love with her wit and wisdom a couple years ago, and her candor and honest writing keep pulling me in. Whether she’s talking about her favorite books or sharing her Friday inspirations (my personal favorite!), Krysten has a way of making you feel like you’re catching up with an old friend. Read on for our wonderful interview. I’d love to feature you and your blog, so feel free to email me (mellow1422 [at] aol)…

Blog: Why Girls Are Weird
When did you start your blog…November 2007
I started blogging in 2002, so originally, I just figured it would be like having an online diary. I guess for me, blogging has always been a way for me to get things out and share how I feel with others.
What do you love the most about blogging? Does anything about it stress you out?
The community is hands-down my favorite thing about blogging. I’ve made some amazing friends through this community, people I never would have met otherwise. I wouldn’t say anything necessarily stresses me out about it. Sometimes I put deadlines on myself that drive me crazy, but that’s more the pressure I put on myself, not so much BLOGGING putting stress on me.
If you had to describe your blog in one sentence, what would you say?
I would say my blog is 100% me: crazy, fun, weird and everything in between all rolled into one.
What has blogging taught you?
I guess you could say that blogging has reinforced my love of writing. It has also taught me that when I stick to something, I can do amazing things. I’m one of those people that tends to flit from thing to thing, so having stuck with my current blog since 2007 is pretty amazing to me.
What advice do you have for new bloggers?
Embrace the community. I didn’t really find my love for blogging until I discovered the community behind it. And don’t think that you need to be like the “popular” bloggers to fit in. My favorite blogs are about people who are themselves first and foremost. Finally, your blog will not be built in a day. It does take work. But you get SO much back…I promise.
Hm. Well, in 5 years, I will be 34. Right now, I feel like I’m on the edge of moving from one part of my life to another. So as far my blog goes, I hope that it’s able to grow and evolve with me. I can’t see myself ever wanting to give it up, so you can bet Why Girls Are Weird will still be around in 5 years.
What has surprised you the most about blogging?
I truly never believe it would be so important to me. Like I said, originally I began blogging as an online diary. I had no idea that it would grow into a community and a way to network. It has taught me SO much about people and about myself, and that’s something I never thought would happen.
