Friends, you know that I’m nothing if not a hopeless romantic, which is probably why I immediately fell in love with Rita’s blog. She writes about all things love and life with her husband Sergio. Fun fact: They sipped champagne and ate pizza on their wedding night. How cool is that? She invites readers to “tag along with us as we have adventures, mishaps and blissful accidents along the way.” I hope you enjoy reading her story. And as always, I’d love to
feature you and your blog, so feel free to email me (mellow1422 [at]

Quick facts
Name…Rita
Birthday…September 12th, 1978
Where are you from…San Antonio, TX
3 words that describe you….Sarcastic, friendly, laughing (all the time)
Occupation…Support Specialist
Blog: Champagne-N-Pizza
When did you start your blog…November 2012
What inspired you to start a blog?
I started blogging because my husband and I became engaged, and I really wanted a means to chronicle our relationship and reach out to our friends and family who do not live near us. We both have friends and family on the East and West coast, so it’s nice for them to be able to read a little bit about our lives online. Once we started blogging, we fell in love with the blogging community.
What do you love the most about blogging? Does anything about it stress you out?
The people we have met. Also, my day job is not very creative, so this gives me a great venue to be able to be creative and artsy and use parts of my brain I would not otherwise access on a day-to-day basis.
If you had to describe your blog in one sentence, what would you say?
It’s a little schizophrenic, a little fun, a little sarcastic and great when taken with a shot of whiskey.
What has blogging taught you?
It has made me fall in love with writing all over again. I have a degree in English, but I have not really used my writing skills that much. Now that we have this blog, I am able to use my English skills and get creative. The more I write, the more comfortable I am getting with writing again.
What advice do you have for new bloggers?
Write about what you love and explore topics that mean the most to you — at least that’s what I do. If anything else falls into place with it, great. If you love what you are doing, that’s the biggest payoff.
Where do you see yourself and your blog in 5 years?
Well, my husband and I hope to have one child, so that’s a definite goal for the next 5 years. The blog will grow and change as our lives change. I hope that in 5 years, the blog has reached out to even more people and touched more lives. I hope the bonds I create with the blogging community grow stronger and stronger as time passes.
What has surprised you the most about blogging?
How much I love it! I set out on a mission to start a blog several years ago about my dating mishaps. I had a ton of them! I never got around to it because I didn’t have the drive. When my husband suggested starting a blog, I was hesitant. As soon as we began, though, I delved in wholeheartedly. I love being creative and tech-y at the same time.
