The secret to Thanksgiving pies

Over the years, I’ve learned that pie baking is an art form. My father’s family is known for making the most delicious pies. Sadly, though, the pie-making skill was not passed down to me, but that doesn’t stop me from appreciating their fine artistry. I can only imagine the artistry that goes into making Melanie’s three-layer peanut butter pie. I might just have to try my hand at this one. You can find the recipe here.

And speaking of pies, I love this handy-dandy little guide to making the perfect pie crust. I figure it could only help me.

Will you be on pie-making duty this year, friends? What’s your favorite Thanksgiving pie? Do you go for traditional pumpkin pie or a not-so-traditional flavor? xoxo

P.S. Caitlin’s first NYC Diaries column is coming right up! 🙂

That is so cute. I cheat though and buy premade pie crusts. pastry sounds a devil to make so i'm staying away from making my own for as long as possible! As for Thanksgiving i'm baking an apple pie!

For a few years I made Pumpkin Cheesecake instead of the traditional pie…Ohh it was good. I had seen & tried it from a Williams Sonoma cooking demo and I was hooked! =) They actually have a whole recipe directory on their website which I use from time to time…

Triple layer Peanut Butter pie??!! Wow…sounds decadent! =)
