World’s Best Father photo series

It started with a single photo. As a sleep-deprived new dad adjusting to life with daughter, Alice Bee, Dave Engledow captured the story of moms and dads everywhere when he snapped a funny photo of himself while he squirted Alice Bee’s bottle of milk into his World’s Best Father coffee mug and held her tightly under his arm. What began as a joke among family and friends has since blossomed into a viral hit, with Engledow documenting life with Alice on his Facebook page. And, thanks to a Kickstarter campaign, he was able to raise money to turn the photos into a calendar. The goal of the project has always been to create something that, although funny, is also relatable and offers lessons to both parents and non-parents. “The character I portray in this series is intended to be a parody of the father I hope I never become — distracted, self-absorbed, neglectful, clueless, or even occasionally overbearing,” he describes.

But, really, this tongue-in-cheek series has always been about Alice, who was never put in harm’s way during photoshoots. “This has been a project that’s for Alice,” says Engledow. “I want to be able to have something that I can give to her that she’ll look back on and treasure.”

How sweet is that? Can you imagine looking at these photos 20 years from now? xoxo

P.S. As for that coffee mug? It’s appeared in every photo in the series!

Ah, I love this! And I especially love seeing men who obviously enjoy being fathers and having fun with their children.
