Fashion Friday: Let’s talk freckles!

Dear freckles: I used to hate you. I mean really hate you. Your little specks dot my arms from my shoulders to my fingertips and run along my nose. They’re the kind of dark specks that I was once certain everyone and their brother noticed. And in the summer sun? Well, I sort of felt like a misplaced Christmas tree, as if my freckles stuck out like those glowing tree lights.
But then? In the last few years, I’ve grown more comfortable in my skin (pun intended…) and realized something: Freckles are one of those natural fashion statements. You don’t have to spend a fortune to get the look or even take drastic measures. All you have to do is be yourself.

Do you have freckles, friends? Did you ever hate them like I did? Did you ever try to cover them up? How did you become comfortable with them? Let’s chat about all things freckles, shall we? xoxo

P.S. What’s your favorite imperfect body part?

Since I am very Irish I have freckles all over.
My grandmother would call them my love spots or beauty spots when I would get down on them. Now I don't even worry about the fact that I have them. They make up who I am.

I have freckles and I've never really noticed having them. They've always been there and they always will 🙂

I have freckles and used to put lemon juice on them to make them disappear (that's just an old trick that doesn't work at all) but the older I get, the more I love my freckles, because they make me unique. Also, I feel so bright and happy after spending time in the sun and my freckles just remind how beautiful it is to be outside. : )

One of my all time favorite blog posts to write was about freckles and birth marks. I truly believe we are given them to help us stand out, God's mark to remind us of our uniqueness.

HAH! Nicole got to it before I did; I was going to mention how much I love your red hair Melissa!

I, too, have freckles and went through a (mercifully) brief period when I hated them but my Granny A straightened me right out on that score. She told me that each freckle was the mark of being kissed by an angel…the more freckles, the more the angels loved you.

How can you argue with such a sweet philosophy?

Melissa I love freckles on others and have always wished I had a sprinkling of them. Isn't that the case of course. They are so uniquely beautiful!

Thank you for stopping by with well wishes!

Lol, I can relate, I'm covered. As a kid, I tried lemon juice, fade creams and several layers of makeup (which was just plain gross).

As an adult, I love them and feel kind of lucky. Like you said, they make a fashion statement. 🙂

Aww, I'm glad you like your freckles now! I only get a few on my nose when I'm in the sun and they fade in a few days, but I get so happy when they come out. 🙂

Freckles are awesome! I used to think they were annoying because i will never have a clear complexion, but now i don't want one! I think you are right they are natural fashion statements. They are also a sign of youthfulness and I think you just have to learn to love them!

My favourite imperfect body part… hmmm… would have to say the black birth mark under my left eye. Is my little beauty spot in my eyes… x

I think freckles are adorable, though I've never had them. My favorite imperfect body part has always been my nose (I never thought it was dainty or feminine enough). It took me a while to realize while most of my facial features I got from my mom, I totally got my dad's nose. The minute I realized this I loved it and I've definitely loved it ever since.
