Behind The Blog: Fashion To Food

Today, friends, I’d love to share my interview with Serda of Fashion To Food, her aptly named blog that combines her love of all things kitchen with all things closet. She had me hooked the second I read the first paragraph of her bio, where she quips: “My name is Serda. Yes. Similar to Serta the mattress company. I bet there are a number of jokes rushing to your mind right now. And I am certain, I’ve heard all of them.” How funny is that? Enjoy this little behind-the-scenes adventures, and as always, I’d love to feature you and your blog, so feel free to email me (mellow1422 [at] aol)…

Quick facts:
Name…Serda
Birthday…August 7
Where are you from…Toronto, Canada
3 words that describe you…Creative, Passionate, Fun
Occupation…Public Relations Pro
Blog: Fashion To Food
When did you start your blog…2010
What inspired you to start a blog?
I’ve always, always wanted to be a magazine editor, and I think deep down, having a blog made me feel like the editor of my own magazine, covering things that interested me and allowed me to creatively express myself.

What do you love the most about blogging? Does anything about it stress you out?
I love writing a post about my personal experiences and finding out I’m not the exception but the norm (usually!). When friends and family tell me, “I totally agree” or “I was thinking the same,” it really excites me. I don’t have any stresses with the blog. It’s my personal journal so I make it what I want it to be.

If you had to describe your blog in one sentence, what would you say
Inspiration and stories from the kitchen to the closet and everything in between. What do you think of that?

What has blogging taught you?
I’ve learned to curate stories and edit myself. I’ve discovered a pattern in my own personal style and preferences. It’s really given me the ability to discover who I am creatively.

What advice do you have for new bloggers?
Write about what you love. Be authentic. Be honest. Be fearless and don’t worry about what other people may think or say. Do it consistently and do it with love, and you should be A OK.

Where do you see yourself and your blog in 5 years?
I’d love to grow my readers. I’d love to build more relationships with other bloggers and participate in blogger-focused events/networking opportunities.

What has surprised you the most about blogging?
What’s surprised me is what I love about blogging – we’re not alone in our experiences, thoughts, discoveries. I love it when my readers tell me they’ve been there.

So About What I Said is a daily blog that covers relationships, disabilities, lifestyle and pop culture. I love to laugh and have been known to overshare. I also have an unabashed obsession with pop music, polo shirts, and PEZ dispensers. Read more...
