Today, friends, I’m excited to share an interview with someone from across the pond. Maartje lives in the Netherlands and her shop, Tizzalicious, open in 2007, reflects her crafty side and her love of making jewelry, sewing and other crafts. And! Her nickname is Tizz! Read on to find out how she took a health setback and turned it into something incredibly positive and her favorite item in her shop! xoxo

So tell me a bit about yourself and your shop…
My name is Maartje, and I’m 29 years old (the big 3.0 in a few weeks! Yikes!). I live in The Netherlands. In my shop, I sell mainly colorful jewelry and accessories that I make myself.
What inspired you to start it?
I have had chronic migraines since I was 7 years old. Because of that, it’s impossible to have a “normal” job. I have always loved making things, so when I realized I’d be dependent on disability for the rest of my life, I decided to start selling my creations so I could provide for myself.
What’s your best piece of advice for people looking for great online shopping deals?
I think the best deals are always found on newsletters and on Facebook pages. Most shop owners want to do something extra for their loyal fans. My own newsletter often has a nice discount code, and I regularly post nice deals on Facebook too.
In this recession economy, what are some ways people can still look chic for less?
Mix and match your existing wardrobe and use accessories to give your outfit that little extra. A new outfit is expensive, and exciting new accessories often aren’t. Your boring outfit often looks a lot more exciting with a fun necklace, colorful belt or cute earrings.
What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
That’s a really hard question! I think at the moment, this necklace is my favorite. I made a whole line of these, though, and I love them all, but this one is a little more “me.” I love the colors, and I have been obsessed with anchors and retro things for years!
