Are there members of your extended family that, although you’ve never met them face-to-face, you just feel this connection to? I felt that way with my Aunt Lois, and even though she was my mom’s aunt, both my sister and I called her Aunt Lois. She was the kind of woman who never let a birthday go by without sending you a birthday card and was a fan of old-school letter writing. She passed away last week, and although we never met, I was honored when we received some of her beautiful jewelry in the mail a few weeks ago. The rings and bracelet, above, are my first pieces of family jewelry. What family jewelry has been passed down to you, friends? Aren’t they something to be treasured? xoxo

I've had the same exact experience. I had a great aunt who I never met but every single holiday I'd get a card and a note. She was the sweetest woman ever and I was really sad to hear when she passed. So lovely that you get to cherish her beautiful jewelry forever. xoxo

I too had a great Aunt who always sent me a birthday card with money in it, every year until she died. Must be a great Aunt thing?
I still have my mom's wedding ring. The diamond is so small, its just ridiculous, but I wouldn't ever get rid of it.

I'm sorry for your loss, but her memory will definitely live on through that jewelry 🙂

Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog.
I've had the same situation with a relative — never met, but always felt a connection. The jewelry you received is absolutely STUNNING (I have a personal affinity for vintage-ish jewelry like this, so unique and beautiful), but the story and the memory and the good feelings make it even more beautiful…

I have a ring very similar to your green double flowered ring, however mines a ruby red and with one single flower. Every ring I own and wear is actually an inherited ring bar my engagement ring. My wedding ring and another ring I wear constantly were both passed to me from my husbands grandmother – one ring being her wedding ring to my husbands grandfather and another being a gift from him to her that I now wear as my own wedding ring. The other ring I cherish is the flower ring i previously mentioned which was my grans ring. Love knowing they have a history and a back story to them.

When I was a little kid, I had an elderly neighbor who considered me a granddaughter (she only had grandsons)…when she passed away, her daughter gave me a ruby ring that "Mummum's" brother gave to her when she was a little girl. Next to my engagment ring, it's my favorite piece of jewelery though sadly, the only finger it fits on is my left ring finger…which is occupied.

Beautiful jewellery!! I think a lot of people had Aunt's they never met but got things from, I did. Shame I never met her though, would have been nice! xx

I love the rings. Great vintage feel to them. And it's lovely you'll always have that connection.

thanks for showing such nice photos of the special heirlooms. I have several rings that belonged to my mother when she was young, one of them being her High School class ring from 1944. And when my godmother passed away 3 years ago, a ring of hers with a large opal was mailed to me by another aunt who thought of me (opal is my birthstone and she thought I should have it)
Your inherited emerald rings are beautiful. Cherish them.
