Friends, let’s have some more holiday fun today, shall we? As we get closer to Christmas (it’s only 3 days away now…yikes!), it seems like our calendars may explode with office parties, packing for vacation, cookie baking, family parties, general merriment. Sigh…
And one more to-do item on some people’s calendars? Shopping. I’ll admit that I’m sometimes that person: I leave all my shopping until the last possible second. Not my aunt, though. She usually has all her shopping done by Halloween (can you believe that??).So, friends, I ask you: Would you rather do all of your shopping early or wait until the last second? Do you think doing it early takes away some of the magic of the season? Do you hate battling the crowds when you wait until, say, Christmas Eve? xoxo

I get most of my shopping done on Black Friday, but then I get jealous of the people who are still shopping and I just end up shopping more!

Last minute. I have a half day at work tomorrow and plan to shop then! To be honest though, the earlier I shop, the better the presents are. The last time I shopped early was when I got a "real" job and was excited to get everybody decent presents!

Early is best. But I am always late.

Early. This year, I was very very early.
But I remember years when 3 days to Christmas and I was at the Post Office sending parcels overseas…
I enjoyed being the early bird this year and found out I enjoyed Advent – I'm Catholic – best if I wasn't distracted with the phisical aspects ahahahah.
But stress is a nut so I have the sense that I must be forgetting something… I'm not, I've seen the list, made double checks ;), but the brain is missing the last minute panic and running around.
Next year who know what I'll do but I could get adicted at being an early bird.
Right now I'm wraping a present for my Priest and I know that if I had 10000 more wraping to do I wouldn't put that much detail on his because I wouldn't have the time.
But I imagine there's some magic of going shopping in Christmas Eve Afternoon, as long as you don't have great expectations (many items won't be available anymore) and too may to buy.
Love,
T

I wish I could be that person to get everything done before it got too close to Christmas. But, realistically, I just can't seem to get there. I always think that I need to get them more! So I scramble out there with the crowd to get last minute things… goodness.

I like to do them early on with sales and stuff but I just finished Finals so had to do them last minute.

We're a big family. I have 48 cousins all in all, (and we are DARN close) and I still have friends! I always tell myself to start shopping early, but somehow the shopping always starts at lest five days away from Christmas…it's hilarious, actually!

Hello Melissa,
I found you via the Lilac in May blog, and so glad I did. I've read back through some of your posts, really enjoyed them too.
I am one of these annoying people who never get phased by Christmas, which could be down to the fact we don't really 'do' it! I have extra twinkly lights around the house and garden, greenery brought indoors (and my lovely husband bought me roses today when he went down to the village deli for bread. They're imported I presume, which I wouldn't normally buy, and specially not out of season, but it's a lovely thought and he's not known for spontaneity!) and that's it. I exchange a few gift with closest female friends, send cards to all friends, but that#s it. No hassle, no rushing about, just we two old duffers enjoying time out together with no timetables or schedules to worry about. Not that I do that either!
Merry Christmas, Maggie

I'm all done:) Had everything in the house weeks ago too. My mom on the other hand, did most shopping yesterday and isn't even done yet. But I'm sure we'll have a fun weekend anyway.
