The shortest day of the year

Do you get the winter blues, friends? During these cold months, when the sun sets by 4:30 p.m. and the skies can be generally gloomy even during the day, it can be easy to start feeling a little blah. But the good news? Today is the Winter Solstice — the first official day of winter and the shortest day of the year. After today, we’ll see a little more light each day (yay!!), but I say we make today a holiday. After all, it’s the perfect excuse to eat warm soup, sit in front of the burning fireplace, watch a favorite holiday movie, play games or bake delicious cookies.

So, tell me, friends: Do you ever get the winter blues? What do you do to cheer yourself out of a funk? And how are you going to relax today? Let’s chat! xoxo

I have the winter blues! Actually my blues are left over from summer, and I've been trying to cheer myself out of it since Septemberish. Online shopping helps.. and so does reading & going to the gym. :]

I hit the gym during the winter and try to get outside for a little bit- even if it's cold and nasty. I also welcome this time as a reprieve from the busy days of summer- a time to do quiet activities and restore.

I don't get the winter blues but I certainly want to stay inside and not go to the mall today. Yuck!

I don't get it because for me winter is warm place, home with a hot chocolate, comfy clothes, handmade projects and long movies on the coach! So I love to get home and I enjoy the dark hours! There is something special in the air!

I definitely get them! But at least it's all downhill from here! 🙂

Normally never get the winter blues till about February when it feels like it will Never End. This year has been a tricky one though so I'm keeping a sharp eye out in case they appear early.
Getting out with the dog and meeting up with friends seem to be the only ways to fight it off. A good meal never hurts, mind you!

i just started tanning again and there's nothing more relaxing than the smell of tannin lotion and actually being warm when it's freezing outside!
