Our holiday decorations

While my mother was out of town a couple of weeks ago, my sister and I decided to surprise her by transforming our house into a winter wonderland for the holidays. Since my father died, it’s become an unwritten tradition that my sister put up the Christmas tree, and I (naturally) always act as director. We added an extra string of lights this year…

…and my mother decided we needed some light on our indoor plant, too…

…And of course, it just wouldn’t be the holidays without our little Santa guarding the house at his post — our fireplace!

Do you decorate a lot for the holidays or not so much? What’s your favorite decoration? Any one that has sentimental value? xoxo

No Tree or decorations this year, Christmas is about family and love, this year I'll be on my own, so…….I admire others lovely decorated houses. Thought I love the smell of trees!!!

This made me smile! We are working on 4 generations of tree ornaments and decorations so they're all sentimental. My favorite thing has to be the tree… So magical.

I love traditions. :] I had never had a real tree until I met my fiance, and now it's tradition that we get a real one every year. It's so much fun.

Very festive! Glad you are having a nice holiday season. As an adult living with her parents (I'm 27) I'm torn between wanting to decorate like old times and being sort of over it. My parents are not too big on hauling out the decorations now that Santa doesn't make an appearance anymore! It's been quite a few years since we brought out our childhood ornaments – we just use bows or ribbons on our tree now. Looking back over them would be fun; maybe when my sister and I are both married we could split them.

It all looks so lovely!!! I love to decorate for the holidays, but I am not an all out kind of girl. We do a little here and there.

my husband is Jewish but he's more excited about decorating the house than I am! We go and pick our tree (Lucia chose it this year!) and then I usually do the lights (years of practice) and then we hang all the ornaments together. Lucia woke up the next morning when the tree was all done and she was so happy and confused. 🙂 and then for hannukah we bring out our menorah which ironically I gave him for Christmas 2 years ago and we celebrate by lighting a candle every night of the holiday. we exchange small gifts on each night and then do one big one of Christmas:)
