Confession: I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with New Year’s resolutions. When I was younger, it seemed so easy to come up with those grand plans that I was going to accomplish over the next 12 months. Tell Crush Boy (finally!) how I felt, for example. And most years, when December 31 rolled around and I realized that I’d forgotten what my resolution even was in the first place, I resigned myself to the fact that resolutions and I just weren’t friends.
Two years ago, I wrote of just wanting to be happy. And honestly, this sounds like a refreshingly perfect way to approach the coming year, doesn’t it?
So, friends, do you make New Year’s resolutions? Are they usually the same every year? What is your resolution this year? What will you miss most about 2011? What are you excited about in 2012? xoxo

i have to say, i'm not a huge fan of NYE. i love that we ring in the new year with loved ones but its always so overrated!! i'm always expecting this glamorous smooch but that never happens….
as far as resolutions, i just pick something that will benefit my life, like 'eat healthier' or 'don't be so judgemental'. i think those stick in my head longer. see ya in 2012~

i LOVE new years and i love making resolutions. in fact, i just posted my list for 2012 on my blog!
i love feeling like i have a fresh start and a fresh slate (it's the perfectionist in me) so i love nye because of that.
i think that being happy is a good goal for anyone, anyday 🙂

You know what? I was just thinking about that very question. Honestly, I don't normally make actual resolutions, but this year I have a new view on some things and somethings I hope to do in the year ahead and beyond, which I'll be posting in a blog tomorrow with my Saturday Sayings! Happy New Year ahead!!!

I do make resolutions, but normally don't follow through! haha.
Stuff like…get in better shape, eat better. Really vague. I think it helps to be precise. At least with me!
I think my goal this year is to be able to run 5K. Maybe not do a race, but just be able to run that far!

I don't tend to make resolutions (because they always get broken), so I make myself promises instead. For 2012 I promise to simplify as much as possible and to discover a new way of normal. 2011 has been too full of big changes.
Have a great New Year's Eve!

I'm making really specific New Year's resolutions this year. I don't normally do that, but I just felt like because of where I am in my life I need to be really specific about my goals so that I can motivate myself. I'm not going to post them until after New Year's, which seems backwards compared to everyone else. Oh well!

Resolutions are great, but I believe that if we want to do something, we should just do it now. Like many, I find resolutions hard to follow through, but I make them anyway in hopes of a new change, or sometimes to just make the best of everything.

I make my "new year" resolutions during the year and not at the close of the year;-)

I make my new years resolutions after my birthday, and they're more like goals (read more, raise awareness, etc). I don't know, I feel more inspired that way to do things that will help me be a little wiser by my next birthday. My biggest goal is read the whole Harry Potter series for the first time (or at least most of it!)

Katy, I love how you make resolutions on your birthday…what a perfect way to start a new age! xoxo

I like to make life goals on New Years and My Birthday! I have a special journal for life goals and I am able to see how I am progressing toward the goals. And I am happy as long as I am making progress!
