New York City from above

I love when a photographer is able to capture the essence and character of a city in a unique way, and Navid Baraty did just that with these recent shots. He caught New York at its finest — huge skyscrapers, zooming taxis and busy people going about their lives. Even more amazing: He snapped these photos by “leaning over the edge of buildings,” he says, and “by extending my arms out if necessary.” Yikes! Can you imagine?

Doesn’t he make the otherwise ho hum and ordinary streets burst with excitement? It looks like a little village of miniature toys! Genius!

If photographers snapped photos from high above your city, what would they capture, friends? I’d love to hear… xoxo

This is really cool. Although I'm afraid of heights, so it does make me a bit uneasy, haha!

    Oh..so high up..

Here..possibly Mayberry in the old towne.. Hopefully, he'd capture the essence of fall. Many bright oranges and yellows now. Still a few squares of cornfields around. Unfortunately, he'd catch a lot of the erosion from the destruction of the flood over the summer (the park has been destroyed). Many roads near the Missouri river need lots of work.

This is great! Above my city they would capture a bunch of water (lakes, ponds, rivers, and the ocean) 😀

Gorgeous photos!! I was just in NYC and wish that I had thought of that angle 🙂 I live in DC and there is a restriction on skyscrapers, but I'm sure there are some sweet pictures to be taken from the top of the Washington Monument!

Also, thank you so much for your comments on the Homestilo blog. I created the Live Love Life Now vintage postcard piece and was really happy to see your comment 🙂

I hope you'll check out my blog and Etsy store when you have a chance. You are an amazing and inspiring writer and I would love to hear what you think!
