I Miss You, Dad.

Today marks 8 years since my father’s death. I couldn’t let the day pass without doing a post about him. I find myself reflecting differently this year. My family is really trying to make it a day of honoring him instead of wallowing in our grief. I thought I’d share my top 10 favorite things about my dad:

1. He loved his family more than anything.

2. He was funny and loved to laugh.

3. He was generous and caring.

4. He could talk for hours about anything and everything.

5. He was so proud when he got his bachelors degree at age 50.

6. He didn’t care what other people thought and marched to the beat of his own drum

7. He loved his job at the university.

8. He loved the summer and loved taking us to the park. He had as much fun as we did.

9. He loved volunteering.

10. He loved to eat, especially meat and dessert. That must be where I get my love of food.

I miss you, dad, and know that I think about you every day. xoxo

Your father sounds like he was an amazing man. We need more like him in the world. I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm happy that you are taking the time to reflect on the happy moments.

That's a wonderful way of celebrating your father's memory. I always prefer to remember my father in much the same manner, too. He was just 50 when he died in 1978 of a heart attack, but he lived a full life and there was never any doubt that he loved his family, either. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him.

He sounds like he was an incredible person 🙂 He would be proud of what you've accomplished in just your blog alone.

Your positive posts despite the tough times you're going through are so inspiring, Melissa. 🙂

Hugs and warmest thoughts to you on this hard day. Today also marks the anniversary of my father's death (20 years ago) from Leukemia. He was a firefighter for the Lansing Fire Department. He left behind two little girls and a loving wife among his wonderful loving group of family and friends.

While March 10 has always been a tender day for my (and your) heart, cherish the times you had with your father and remember him for all the wonderful things he was (just as you have beautifully written in this blog post). I always see March 10 as a day to realize all the beautiful things in my life that I take for granted.

Again, my warmest regards are with you. Sincerely, Caity
