I’m always telling my Mom that she should open up her own little bakery because she’ll spend entire Saturday mornings in the kitchen stirring and whisking and frosting all sorts of delicious creations. I’ve been enjoying the fruits of her latest creation all week: Oatmeal cranberry chocolate chip cookies. I’m not sure if it’s a trait of all great chefs, but my mom has a habit of not following recipes, and instead likes to throw ingredients together and be surprised by the end result. But here’s a great recipe for the cookies!!

I wouldn't call myself a "Great Chef" but I have been cooking and baking for MANY years. I, like your mother, love to experiment with recipes, throwing this and that into it! Especially baking!!! The problem with me is that because I don't go into it thinking that I'll ever repeat it, I've had some great tasting things that I could never repeat!!! Oh well! ^_^

Your mom's baking sounds delicious Melissa! It's been too hot this summer for us to bake anything, but as soon as it cools down we'll be making some yummy stuff also. I'm not good at the not measuring cooking, I'm not advanced enough yet 🙂 but my sis does the same. Her and my mom eyeball it all. My most recent experiment that turned out well were some blackberry, yogurt and honey popsicles that I read about in Bon Appetite magazine. They turned out well!

The last thing I concocted was homemade bread pudding with bourbon sauce (add vanilla ice cream). My boyfriend at half of the pan the first night.
