Do You Keep A Journal?

I’ve always gone for those hard-cover, pretty-design journals at Barnes & Noble and Borders. When I was younger, I’d take great care in choosing just the right book to suit my mood of the moment. I sadly haven’t been journaling as much as I’d like lately, but I’m liking these simple journals better than my many volumes of flashy ones. In fact, I just started journaling again a few days ago not in one of those flashy books, but in a simple composition book.

Do you keep or journal? What do you think, friends? xoxo

P.S. You can also read some of my diary entries if you’d like! 🙂

I don't keep a journal as such, but I do have a lovely notebook to write ideas, thoughts, quotes and poems in on the go. Some of these find their way to my blog. Which is a kind of journal I suppose. xx.

i know what you mean, madeleine. lots of my thoughts sometimes skip my journal altogether and find their way to my blog. Not such a bad thing, I guess! 🙂

I know I should but I don't really. I have one online but I don't update it regularly. Old fashioned journals are so much more inviting with their fun color and designs.

Yes! I do keep a journal, and I too go to great lengths to find that PERFECT journal at bookstores. :] Often times, I re-read my journals and am utterly embarrassed at what I wrote… but after re-reading them again after a couple more years have passed, I've come to be thankful for my own growth and maturity!

I do keep a journal and have since I was younger. Since I've started a blog, though, I find myself writing less and less in my journal. I do write in my journal about the personal things I wouldn't share on my blog!

I stopped keeping a "proper journal" but I still have a notebook to jot down random thoughts and inspiration (journal of inspiration?), lists of dreams, places to visit…sometimes with a more "proper" entry thrown in. I've found it's still nice to have, even though I feel like I've slacked off journaling…

These notebooks are so beautiful! I love how they added pages from a book as decoration 🙂

I, like you, don't keep journals much. Occasionally, if I feel the urge to write, I will, but if I try to keep a schedule with writing in journals, it starts to feel like a chore to me and that's not how it's supposed to be.

(sorry for my bad english, I'm from germany. hope you did understand me :D)

I do keep a journal! I love looking back on what I was scared about then or who I thought was the cutest guy in the universe or where I was. It's amazing how much one can change in such a short period of time.

I've been wanting to keep a journal for so long now…the problem is, I suck at it. I'll start it, enthusiastic, but I never finish. So what I've started instead is the 365 day project, which has been a fantastic form of journaling for me. I carry around my little Fuji Instax with me everyday and take a photo. Then I paste it into a journal and write one or two lines about what I did that way. It's a nice way to remember all those little moments that I always forget so easily. And that form of journaling has worked really well for me…and I love the photos. I think I'll be doing this for a long time 🙂

I like keeping a journal handy for those times I am going through drama. It's a good way of venting.

I like fancy journals, though, I buy them clearanced. Regular notebooks just seem to sterile and uninspiring.

I tend to keep a journal when things are getting on top of me: it's a safe release. And I have a huge stationery crush – can't resist the promise of all those blank pages!

My mother always encourages me to keep one and from time to time I do. I have to say I'm glad she told me to during college and summers abroad, etc…because now I go back and read them and love that I have that! I just have to keep on top of it and remember that today it might not seem that important, but in years to come it is wonderful to look back on! 🙂

From the age of 12 or so I kept a diary (We didn't call it journaling ' back in the day'! ^_^). I wrote in it every day for years!! I believe that molded me to a great extent into the person I am today. It made me a more self-aware person. YAY for journaling!! 🙂

Kate, it helps if you write in it at the same time each day. Or, lots of feelings has always been a good motivator for me. 🙂

I have kept a journal for over 20 years. I prefer the faux leather hard cover style journal with lines gold edged pages, when I can find them (at Ross or book stores). I enjoy keeping a nightly journal, right before bed with occasional entries at other times of the day.

You can follow my @JournalChat account on Twitter where I post links for all things journaling.

I have been journaling since I was 12, I love physically writing in a book and cramming ticket stubs, letters, plane tickets and memories in there. It is so nice to go through them as well. Your own personal history.

I have a journal for each of my boys. I started them the day they were born. I don't write in them alot just when I feel the need to say something i want them to know or remember.

Usually I only keep a journal when traveling, but I've decided to do it this year since I'm in the middle of planning a huge move to Hawaii and getting married. I have a feeling that someday I will want to look back on this year and reminisce.
