Summer Pleasures: Fun Games.

My family has always been big game players, and we play even more games when the days are longer and more relaxing in the summer. When I was younger, we loved Clue, one of the only games that brought out my father’s competitive streak.
Then a few summers ago, my mother and I started playing Yahtzee at least once a day. We pour ourselves a tall glass of diet coke (I’m sorry, Barq’s!) and play 3 straight games in a row. It’s our favorite game.
We recently added a new game to our repertoire: Bananagrams. Have you played it? It’s a spin-off of Scrabble but more fast-paced, which I love.

Summers are the best time for game-playing, don’t you think? What are some of your favorite games, friends? xoxo

I just went on Etsy in the hopes of finding an upcycled Bananagrams bag that would be turned into a purse. I did not find one. πŸ™

I love Left-Center-Right (LCR). It's a dice game that my family plays. We use dollar bills instead of the chips. So fun.

bananagrams is a crowd favorite at our house. my dad and i will just sit there playing for hours. him, being an extremely literate and wordy guy, will constantly just yell "peel!" "peel!" "peel!" it really truly drives me insane sometimes.

Lili – I make Clue jokes all the time. Usually, no one laughs.

And dancing, I'm soooo competitive I yahtzee. It's really bad. My mom and I keep a running total of our scores each month and at the end of the month, the loser buys the winner lunch. I won last month! πŸ™‚

I adore games too! You name it (for the most part) I will play it. Yahtzee, cards, poker, Scrabble (will definately have to try the Bananagrams soon!)…the perfect way to pass a summer afternoon or even a cool winter night (not that we are even going to think about WINTER right now! :))

What a great family tradition Mel!

I miss game nights. My husband and I go through Scrabble phases, and my Dad's side of the family still play the game when we all get together (even my 90-year old Grandma with Alzheimers still plays, although she's not quite the shark she used to be). As kids, my sister and I used to play Yahtzee all the time when we stayed with my grandmother. I still have that same game that belonged to my grandparents – it must be 50 years old be now!
