Mr. Red, White and Blue.

Alright, I’ll fully admit that this is another one of my fun, Miley-esque songs. I think the summer weather is getting to me. I never had a summer romance – well, yet, that is. But this is what I’d want it to be. And yes, I have a specific person in mind. And no, I’m not going to reveal his identity. Yet…

I hesitated
I didn’t want to leave
‘Cause we both knew what that would mean
Thought if I just stared straight ahead, I could stop time from fading
Holding my hands tight against those leather seats, trying to hold on to what we had
I waited for one of us to speak
But, baby, anything we said was already in the past
And the way, the way you looked into my eyes that last time
As we sat in the dark in your car
The beauty of knowing a simple truth
That’s how, that’s how I’ll remember you
Mr. Red, white and blue

Sitting in the car with you that night
We outlined every star in the sky
You said you’d name them all after me
We watched the fireworks dance in the sky and I told you they didn’t hold a candle to the sparkle in your eyes
It’s hard to believe I didn’t know it then
That this was our own revolution

Back then when it was just you and me
And those summer days
Twirling through the grass in our bare feet
Sipping sodas on the dock, thinking things would never change

Sometimes the way the light catches someone’s eye
It still gives me those butterflies of when we first met
Like tiny flickers of yesterday, of summer air and the jasmines in bloom
There was just something about you

Back then when it was just you and me
And those summer days
Twirling through the grass in our bare feet
Sipping sodas on the dock, thinking things would never change

And here I am again, sitting in that same car
You’re still sitting next to me but you feel so far away
Take me back to when it was just you and me and those long summer days

I love this! It actually reminds me a lot more of Taylor Swift than Miley. Which is good because in my opinion Taylor is so much better!

So About What I Said is a daily blog that covers relationships, disabilities, lifestyle and pop culture. I love to laugh and have been known to overshare. I also have an unabashed obsession with pop music, polo shirts, and PEZ dispensers. Read more...
