I Can’t.

After I received that awesome email last week from my music-publisher contact, my mind immediately began soaking up her words of wisdom like a sponge. I wrote this song on my Blackberry, oddly enough, while watching the new Whites Stripes Canadian Tour documentary with my sister. The first line of this one just wouldn’t get out of my head, and I started thinking about how people – both men and women – can lose sight of themselves, and instead of finding more of themselves in a relationship, they get lost somewhere along the way. So, taking her advice, I opted for a shorter song this time around…

P.S. Not sure if this means I’m improving or not, but this is the first one I’ve written where I actually heard a bit of a tune in my head to go along with it. What do you think, friends? xoxo

    I know how much you love Nashville, and I was wondering if you were aware of the floods that have currently caused at least 8 deaths in Nashville.

    I'm feeling like this at the moment, Melissa. Great to have it put so wonderfully to words.
    You definitely have a talent for songwriting- I would get in contact with some of the major labels if I were you and show them samples of your work- email is fine. Just google them and send through 3-4. I work in publishing so I know how it works. Good luck!

    Hi Melissa,
    Sorry, just saw your question now. Yes, you need to send them your curriculum and then at the end, I would suggest writing a list of all the titles of the lyrics you have written, then attach three samples to the email. Write an email on the lines of Dear Sir/Madam, I am an aspiring songwriter and wonder if you would be interested in using any of my lyrics for your songs. The lyrics I write are romantically themed
    (give brief description) but I am versatile and willing to write to any theme required. Then give your contact details and say you look forward to hearing from them. Keep the email to the point and fairly short. Attach samples of your work with a copyright line at the bottom: copyright melissa blake 2010.
    Be tenacious and keep trying – I made a complete nuisance of myself when I got my first job. At the interview, they told me they were impressed that I wouldn't take no for answer. I've got my fingers crossed for you!!

    http://www.sonymusic.com/- sony have a lot of smaller record labels within them. Use the Contact Us button to get the info.
    Decca are quite classical these days but try them too.
    I'm not sure what others are based in the USA (I'm in the UK).

    最近はどこのSNSサイトも規制ばっかりで、ちょっと出 合いに関して書き込みするとアク禁食らうけど、夏休み終盤に差し掛かり色々なサイトを調べた結果、グリーだけはどうも規制が緩んでるみたいです。今がチャンスの時期ですよ
