At any given moment, if you look at my bedside table, you’re likely to find a huge stack of magazines, a notebook for my lyrics and the assorted book. I recently finished the book I was reading, so I’d love to hear your suggestions. What’s on your bedside table? What book should I read next? I’m itching for a good new read.
P.S. Did you know I’m a proud Nicholas Sparks fan! xoxo

It depends what kind of books you like to read. A few suggestions, The Children's Book by A.S Byatt is gorgeous. Brooklyn by Colm Toibin was good. Anything by Isabel Allende. You might like A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff, or The Girl in Times Square by Paullina Simons. Sorry, I love to read, and get a little carried away recommending books to others! Hope you find something good. 🙂

If you haven't read it already, I would highly recommend Circle of Friends, by Maeve Binchy. I fell in love with the characters.

Hmm what's on my nightstand? Books, books, my iPhone, books, water carafe with like thousand year old water (note to self refill with fresh), dust, and books. The last book I finished was Kelly Cutrone's If you have to cry go outside. Loved it! It is very powerful woman oriented and she has had one interesting life to say the least. Prior to that The Time Traveler's Wife which everyone has already read, and Machiavelli's The Prince (don't ask, I think college nostalgia took over).

Are you really? I'm still a closeted Nicholas Sparks fan that only few people know about. haha. Anywho, I just finished reading Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin [the sequel is Something Blue] and they are the best books I've read in a long while. I definitely recommend them. By the way, I am loving these bedstands. Mine has a lamp, book, glasses case, and a box of kleenex. All of the essentials. 🙂

Still life with woodpecker- really anything by Tom Robbins is awesome.
I like stacks of books as nightstands- but I am a reader and hence like books as decor.

I have eat, love, pray if you want to borrow it. I'd highly recommend the hunger games/chasing fire if you haven't read them–they are "kid" books, but are AWESOME!!!

Hey Melissa, Oooh, I love that chair with the drawer! Cool. Let's see, what's on my bedside table…loads of magazines, books, phone, clock, lotion, lip balm, jewelry (that I haven't put away)…a few…hush…wrappers from snacks I shouldn't be eating!
As for book recommendations…I'm currently reading/perusing dozens of home decor books but I am really "reading" an edited essay book called, "Dirt, The Quirks, Habits, and Passions of Keeping House!" I guess, I was hoping it might inspire me to spring clean…no such luck, yet!
Have you read Eat Pray Love? Or The Guernsey Potatoe Pie Society (awesome read…I hope I have that title correct)! Let us know what book you choose next! Great post!

Anything by Jenn Lancaster is a good read and right now I am in the middle of The Help, also excellent. Also on my bedside table, MAC Liberty of London nailpolish.

Hmm. Anything by Peter Mayle, he writes great books about traveling and living in France. Start with "A Year in Provence"!

One of the best books I have on my shelf is a childrens book called
Nicholas and his gang by Rene Goscinny. It's hilarious.

I don't believe in Nicholas Sparks. Sorry. I can't handle him.
I am reading "Into the Woods" right now, and it's good. I would also recommend Jodi Piccoult.
I'm sure you and I have varying tastes, but I love Chuck Palahniuk, Kurt Vonnegut, and Stephen King.
I also just bought a book called "The Unit" that is a modern day "Brave New World," (which, if you haven't read it, AWESOME).
As far as classics go, I seriously would recommend pulling out Locascio's choices for independent study from senior year. All awesome choices.
Melissa Blake says
Thanks, Beth! Jodi Piccoult is on my want-to-read list!
And I'd totally forgotten about senior year. I think I read The Sound & The Fury, but can't remember the two others….

A modern day Brave New World? Awesome, Faux Trixie.
On my bedside table isn't the book I'm reading (it's a huge book of Grimms Tales that I just left there). The books I read are actually scattered around the apartment and in my bed. Yes, I put the book down next to me in the double bed when I'm done. I have issues. I also have an autographed photograph of my fave singer, a lamp, and my discontinued telephone on my table.
As for what to read next…hmmm. That's hard…can I get back to you? 🙂
