Dear Mr. Melissa Blake:
I’ve been surfing the Web a lot lately (do people still use that phrase wherever you are?), and in the midst of my browsing hours, I had an epiphany of sorts. I’ll admit that I’m sort of afraid to even tell you. You’ll probably think it’s just another weird quirk of mine, or worse, wonder if it makes me certifiable. Are you seriously rolling your eyes at me, Sweetpea? Well, just hear me out.
I know, it’s probably an incredibly odd idea, but I can guarantee you one thing: it is totally me. This is one of those ideas that could only come from my beautiful little sexy brain.
You know I’m a ring girl, right? Maybe by the time we meet, I’ll have amassed quite the varied collection of diamonds and vintage and bling blibg rings, but the ones I’ve fallen in love with recently have been a series of heart rings. They’re classy. They’re simple. They’re sophisticated in their quiet and subtle beauty.
And then I wondered: How cool would it be if I bought one of these in honor of you -or maybe more like in honor of us? Wait, what? You hate when I put you up on a pedastal like that? I can tell your blushy side is going to be very endearing, Sweetpea.
Well, OK, so maybe honor isn’t exactly the right word. I suppose it’d be more of sentimental reminder. Even though we have met yet (or have we…?), I kind of like the idea of having something with me to make me smile every time I look at it and think of you. True, it is a bit sappy even for me, but it could be like a pre-pre-engagement ring. Wow, does that make me incredibly old-fashioned? Maybe that’s why I like the idea so much. It’s out-of-the-ordinary and something that I’m pretty sure is pretty unconventional.
It wouldn’t be a promise ring (not that there’s anything wrong with those…), but a ring more along the lines of, “This ring makes me remember how exciting it is when we meet someday.”
What do you think people would say if they asked and I told them what it was? Is this the weirdest, oddest, most insane idea I’ve ever had? I don’t know about you, but I’m partial to that first heart ring and of course, the love knot rings. Until we meet…
P.S. I just thought of something. How Matrix-y would it be if we already know each other, you actually read this blog and then see the ring on my finger every time you see me? Doesn’t that just boggle your mind? I know it sends my mind into a tailspin.
