When I was younger, it seemed like my family was always taking a vacation somewhere. By the time I was 10, we’d been up and down the Eastern seaboard, driven through every state in Dixieland (Alabama is my favorite, of course!) and knew the sights and sounds of the Midwest like the back of our hand. I was grateful for these trips. My only complaint? All the hotels we stayed in were the same: bland, basic colors, white sheets and just all-around stoic. I often wondered if there was some sort of hotel blueprint or factory that just churned out design after same-design rooms. That’s why I’ve always loved the look and feel of vintage motels. Each one has their own character, and that’s so refreshing, isn’t it? One of my dreams is to stay in enough motels that I’ve covered every color of the rainbow. Wouldn’t that be awesome? And don’t you love the ’60s feel of these rooms?
Where have all the hotel rooms with characters gone, friends? xoxo
