I spent an afternoon last week printing out the 50-some songs I’ve written over the lasy year, and this week I’m being uncharacteristically crafty and organzing them in a binder. Is that weird? Too self-indulgent?
Remember when I metioned the unexpected positive feedback I received last week from a music publicist? Well, she followed-up with me a few days ago, and while, obviously, Carrie Underwood won’t be singing my songs any time soon, she did offer these encouraging words…
Lyrics are good! Asked a few I know in Nashville, and they said market is very tight right now.
What do you think? It was a bright spot for me in an otherwise hectic and stressful week back at work. xoxo

I think that's great that you organized them. What if that lady asked you to compile a few of your absolute favorites in a portfolio? Now you have them all ready & organized so you won't have to scramble to get them all if the time comes. I write mini stories & I keep a plastic file tuperware of them. Ya never know!! =)

That's a great idea, Melanie! what kinds of stories do you write? xoxo

Well, it's nice to know you're being noticed in that arena.
It's not self-indulgent at all! I have all my fiction and some poetry and stuff arranged in an accordion folder for easy reference.

Congratulations! She showed your lyrics around Nashville!! That's wonderful (and yeah, the market is hard to break in but at least you've gotten in their head. Who knows if they need someone next week?).

I think it is great that you wrote so many song! Good work. One of the keys to becoming a great songwriter is writing a lot of OK songs. Glad you got some notice by a publisher. – Chad
