An Open Letter To Alexa Ray Joel.

Dear Alexa:

I know you’ll probably never read this, but after reading about your hospitalization and my own recent experience, I thought we both could use a heart-to-heart (albeit virtual) talk.

No guy is ever worth your tears, fears and especially your life. Please, never forget that. And any guy that would make you feel that way isn’t a real man and doesn’t deserve the beauty that is you.

I realized something: Your story, sadly, is not just your story. It’s my story. It’s thousands of women’s stories. Why are we so quick to point the finger at ourselves? We couldn’t make it work. This mess is all our fault. He won’t love me if I’m not this vision of who he wants me to be.
We just need to S-T-O-P! If we don’t love ourselves, who will? I’ve always believed that we need to save most of our love for ourselves. Because if that love should get in the wrong hands, it’ll never be treasured like it should be.

Lots of hugs…xoxo
