How awesome is this quote from reader Amanda? For so long, I thought it was my job to “instruct” men on how to look past my disability and see the real me. Then Amanda stated the obvious: I shouldn’t have to. Genius! What do you think?
I honestly don’t want to have to “teach” a man to look past the friendship aspect due to my disability. That would be degrading in a way.
And then I received this from a reader of Disabled And Thriving, my Psychology Today magazine blog:
You are an inspiration to us all. I am a wheelchair user as a T-9 paraplegic and so I know what you mean by an able-bodied world. I hope that I can adapt as well as you. I have had my struggles; however, I feel that I am doing better. I feel that your post is really a great help to many others who have struggles with some sort of physical disadvantage.

A person who cannot talk but is a friend to all people?
OR…A person who can talk but uses their words to hurt people!!

A person who is blind and sees no differences in people?
OR…A person who can see, but all they see are differences!!
