Yikes. Goals. Say that word and sometimes my mind just goes blank. I know I pretend like I have it all figured out, but that’s all I’m doing most of the time – pretending. It can seem daunting to think, “Where do I want to be in 5, 10, 15 years” when you have no idea if you’re even happy with your place in life today.
I came across the most inspirational blog over the weekend. The awesome folks at It Starts With Us aim to “Changing the world by making a positive impact in the lives of the people around us.” A recent post about making 5 goals for your life really caught my eye. What I loved about the post was that it promoted setting, not grandiose absolutely-to-the-letter specific goals, but more general ones. Helping others? Check. Happy marriage? Check.
Aren’t those the things we really want out of life instead of making $80,000 by the time you’re 30 and spending your summers in your cottage in the Hamptons?
So tell me, friends, what are your Top 5 Goals In Life?
Update: Oooops! I forgot to list mine!
1. Be happy
2. Spend as much time with family as possible.
3. Learn to be a bit less angry at my father
4. Get my first byline in Glamour or Marie Claire
5. Meet Mr. Melissa Blake 🙂
