I’ll be the first to admit that I was a bit nervous about the reactions I might get from my essay on my disability that was published on TheFrisky last week. It’s one thing to pour my heart out on here, in my own little corner of the world, but to reveal my feelings on such a popular site seemed a bit daunting.
But did that stop me? Of course not. And I’m glad it didn’t because then I wouldn’t have read these inspiring words from readers:
Love really is blind, and it can sprout in the most unlikely spots. Rest assured that, when a man falls in love with a woman, it’s not because of how she looks. The heart wears different glasses.
I don’t want a boyfriend, and neither should you, that isn’t sure he can “deal” with a disability or deformity. The boyfriend who you deserve is someone who sees the amazing things you can give him and because of that, wants to give you whatever he can to keep you around.
The heart wears different glasses. Don’t you love that? I really want to get that stamped on my forehead.
