It’s quite funny that I should find these photos by beautiful photographer Dina Goldstein. I’ve been thinking a lot about some of the real lessons that we learn from classic fairy tales – not as children, but once we’re adult (Tip for Snow White: It’s probably not a good idea to go into a house full of strange little men….but maybe that’s just me).
Because when you think about it, not all those fairy tales really do end happily. What happens to us if we don’t get our happily-ever-after guarantee? What if our faity tale bubble is burst by real life?
“I began to imagine Disney’s perfect princesses juxtaposed with real issues that were affecting women around me,” Goldstein says.
Are we destined for a life of sadness if our beloved fairy tale suddenly falls apart? I like to think we’re stronger than that, don’t you?
